Second album by goat, led by Koshiro Hino, the young and most important figure in the Japanese/Osaka underground scene that gave birth to boredoms, Afrirampo.
With its first album "NEW GAMES" in 2013 chosen as one of the best albums of the year by Japan's ele-king and Italy's blow up magazines, and opening for Arto Lindsay in Japan as well as garnering high praise from Yoshihide Otomo in his radio program, the long-awaited second album by goat will finally be released.
The album eliminates melodies more than the previous album and is laden with sounds that are usually classified as ornaments such as muted sounds and harmonics of the guitar and bass guitar, altissimo of the saxophone and drum rim shots. The way the band constructs a complex rhythm through minimal repetition is astounding. Listen to the sound that was described as the ultimate point beyond Nisennenmondai
and Battles.
Leader and composer Koshiro Hino has performed under his solo artist moniker of YPY in events including the Asian Meeting Festival, artistically directed by Yoshihide Otomo, and Japan tours by overseas cutting-edge artists such as D/P/I. While expanding his range of activities including running his own cassette label, birdFriend, and organizing a festival titled "Best Friends," the second album by his
main project goat has completed and is to be released.
The cover artwork is a new work by Tomoo Gokita, who created the work especially for the album.
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Bunsho Nishikawa, who is known for his works with Tenniscoats, among others.
goat:
Koshiro Hino, a.k.a YPY (guitar) / Akihiko Ando (saxophone) / Tetsushi Nishikawa (drums) / Atsumi Tagami (bass)
Guitar, saxophone, bass and drums.
Disregarding the musical scale of instruments as much as possible, the band creates songs that consist of noise and muted sounds that are produced when sound is emitted.
The trance and fatigue brought about from relentless repetition and the melody-like sounds that comprise harmonics outside the twelve-tone are both urban and tribal at the same time.
First album "NEW GAMES" was released in 2013 by Atsushi Sasaki's record label, HEADZ/UNKNOWNMIX.
